Overview
The Graphic Designer is responsible for conceptualising, designing, and producing visual content that communicates ideas and messages effectively. Their work will be used across a variety of media including print, digital, and multimedia platforms, to engage, inform, and inspire target audiences.
Core Responsibilitiess
- Concept Development: Collaborate with clients, art directors, marketing teams, or stakeholders to understand proaject goals, target audience, and brand identity. Translate these into clear visual concepts.
- sDesign Creation: Use design software (commonly Adobe Creative Suite) to create a wide range of materials including:
- Logos and brand identities
- Brochures, flyers, and posters
- Website layouts and social media graphics
- Packaging and merchandise
- Infographics and presentations
- Typography & Layout: Select and apply typography, colours, imagery, and composition principles to ensure readability, hierarchy, and aesthetic appeal.
- Revisions & Feedback: Incorporate feedback from clients and stakeholders; revise designs to meet specifications, deadlines, and project goals.
- Production & Delivery: Prepare final assets for print, web, or multimedia production. Ensure all materials meet technical specifications (e.g., resolution, file formats, colour profiles).
- Brand Consistency: Ensure all visual output aligns with the client’s or company’s brand guidelines and messaging.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, track progress, and meet deadlines—working both independently and as part of a team. We operate within Asana and the Google Workspace environment for Project Management.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Creativity & Innovation: Ability to generate original ideas and design solutions.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in design creation tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and knowledgeable about file preparation for print and digital formats. Highly proficient with Canva (design), Mailchimp (email marketing), Google Workspace (production environment), and Asana (project management).
- Attention to Detail: Precision in alignment, spacing, and design consistency.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication to explain design concepts, receive feedback, and collaborate with clients and teams.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to solve visual communication challenges and propose effective design solutions.
- Time Management: Organise tasks efficiently to handle multiple projects and tight deadlines.
Educational & Portfolio Requirements
Education (Preferred but Optional)
- Any form of external education in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Communication Design, or related fields.
Portfolio (Essential)
- A strong portfolio showcasing design projects and case studies, demonstrating creativity, technical skill, versatility, and positive result outcomes.
